So maybe things are (finally) starting to change on that front. Speaking of Superstars, Amy's post-Adventure outfit is available as a preorder-bonus alternate skin for the game-and at least from my neck of the woods, reactions to that were pretty positive. I seriously doubt something like Superstars or the classic-focused comics is inherently rendered worse by a character like Blaze showing up as a main/playable character, or Big and Froggy making trademark cameo appearances. It only really kicks in for convenience, like enforcing the current character designs for Sonic 4 but ransacking everything else from the MD games (zones, badniks, bosses, mechanics, story, etc.) verbatim.Īs long as they properly adapt post-MD characters into the MD gameplay, aesthetic, and tone I don't really envision most people envisioning it as some catastrophic affront beyond purists. without issue for decades, among other things. The other part of it is that the post-MD games have been allowed to bring back (or regarding Chaotix, reinvent) old zones, badniks, characters, etc. Part of it is that I think it's dumb they need to justify making characters appear and play as they do in a certain style or format of games, that never had a reason from the start. Which, for the record, I'd wish they'd stop doing. ![]() as a canonical timeline split (or as a different dimensions) then no, it's not going to ever happen. As long as Sega are enforcing the different aesthetics, tone, etc.
